Major Coal-fired Power Producer in the Southeast United States.
 PROBLEM:
This Utility operates a pulse-jet baghouse on coal-fired boilers. They use PPS needled-felt filter bags and had installed different PPS bags in 25% of the unit modules for evaluation. After a short period of time, the test bags became “nearly blinded” with particulate and would not clean. This caused de-rating of the unit and the Utility could not meet dispatch requirements.
SOLUTION:
Midwesco introduced our TASK™ HEC service as the solution to this dilemma. Using our proprietary “in situ” cleaning, our crew was able to remove the imbedded particulate from the filter bags. A total of 2,176 PPS bags were High Energy Cleaned (HEC) in less than two (2) days with no removal of bags required.
RESULTS:
Midwesco’s TASK™ HEC service restored the flows in the bags that were cleaned. This enabled the Utility to again meet the dispatch requirements and removed the load-limiting restrictions of the baghouse.
FOLLOW-UP DATA:
1. The Utility, even though using fuel-blending, has stayed at full dispatch capability.
2. Replacement bags have arrived, but are not now required.
3. Sixty (60) days post- TASK™ HEC, the Utility views TASK™ HEC as an option to replacing filter bags and extending the useful life of their bags.
4. Midwesco continues to provide the HEC Service to this customer. To date, over 6,000 bags have been cleaned at this facility. |
