TDC® Cartridges With Hydro & Oleo Phobic Finish Solves Welding Smoke Problem
 A Welding Contractor doing work on a GE® combined-cycle turbine was utilizing a TORIT® cartridge collector to remove welding smoke and fume from the workspace. The challenge was to extend the cartridge life beyond the customer’s experience of three weeks. Instead of supplying a competitively priced filter and live with equal life, TDC® accepted the challenge to extend the life of the cartridges, and thus go beyond the customer’s expectations. The recommended design included the use of TDC®’s Hydro & Oleo phobic treated spun bond polyester media, in replace of standard cellulose media that lasted only three weeks of service. Wider pleat spacing was also employed to promote better filter cleaning. The TDC® brand filters have lasted over two years and saved the customer over $7,000.00 annually in replacement filter costs alone, not including lost downtime and manpower expenses each time he replaced his old cellulose filters.
