Large Project Update - NPPD In July of 1999, Wheelabrator Air Pollution Control (WAPC) contracted with Midwesco Filter to supply and install over 34,000 woven fiberglass filter bags and spring suspension assemblies for their project with the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD). The NPPD facility is in Sutherland, NE, USA; and operates two coal-fired boilers, Unit #1 at 715 MW and Unit #2 at 745 MW. Each baghouse contains 36 modules and utilizes both reverse-air and sonic horns to clean the 35 foot long woven fiberglass filter bags. Both baghouses filter nearly 6 million cubic feet of flue gas combined, making this installation the largest reverse air baghouse system in the Western Hemisphere. Midwesco Filter’s filter bags, springs, and service contracts were successfully executed in the winter of 2000 for Unit #1 and the spring of 2001 for Unit #2, and have been operating “trouble-free” since startup and commissioning. Just another large project that was executed by Midwesco Filter, “on time” and “on budget”. |
